I think he meant the 795 Marlin. The 795, like the 10/22 is semiautomatic. It is a bolt 925 Marlin.
I assume you mean because I have a 795, so that I can give first hand information.
Is this a good first gun? Of course!
It's easy, accurate, easy to use and is about 40% cheaper than comparable 10/22. It even has a function of the retention pin open after the last shot Ruger 10/22 gap.
The only drawback is the 795, that you can not do much for your gun trick. Are there any high capacity magazines available at the moment. This is not really all very individual.
So, here's my opinion. If you have a simple, accurate and a nice weapon, but do not thinkchange much, is 795 of the right way, because it is much better than 10/22 included. But if you want to adjust in a position to go with the 10/22.
